PARALLEL SESSION
Speaker: Catherine Sanders
Date and time: Friday 23 May 2025, 11:15am - 12:00pm
SESSION OVERVIEW
All families and the individuals they contain are born, grow and eventually end. As we move through the lifecycle, individuals and families encounter developmental challenges that require rearranging relationships to meet the needs of those who comprise them. As these are negotiated within the family, those who are in a family business have the additional task of rearranging roles and rules within the business to reflect and adapt to the changing state of the family. When these adaptations are not made, the individuals and the business may develop symptoms or difficulties that reflect the stalled process.
Clinical Psychologist and Family Therapist, Catherine Sanders, will guide participants in developing an understanding of the expected transition life stages experienced by all families, which influence working together in business. They will learn how these life stages impact family businesses and recognise issues that can impede the natural flow of change within each transition stage. Participants will also gain insight into how these issues may be reflected in the family business and learn practical strategies for restoring the flow to bring about change and transition, as well as the role of advisors in this process.
